Discription

The Venice of the East is the place to be for a wonderful houseboat and sailing experience. Also called Alappuzha, it is home to some of the best tourist places and is central to Kerala’s backwaters. The town has a massive grid of lagoons, canals, waterways, rivulets and backwaters. If you move towards the west to the beaches or away from the city, Alleppey becomes beautiful, surrounded by greenery, turning into untouched, pristine villages with their toddy shops, punted canoes, and not to forget houseboats.

The best time to visit Alleppey is from October through March in the winters when the weather is pleasing and mild, making it ideal for sightseeing or sailing. The minimum temperature is around 17⁰C to a maximum of 32⁰C. One can visit during the rains from June to September when the green is shimmering, and the races are on, though be sure to carry rain gear with you.
